Get Your Hands Dirty Cleaning That Turkey!
I married into a family that likens Thanksgiving unto a religious holiday. Now, 42 years later, it has become one of my most favorite days of the year and I start preparing every aspect of the day months before. I love everything about it, but mostly the fact that Thanksgiving Day in our family is a tradition and the tradition revolves around the love of family. Many of our beloved family members aren’t physically here anymore, but they are present at our Thanksgiving table in spirit and in love. So many new family members share our traditions, too. In fact, just our immediate family still number nineteen and each member has a part in every Thanksgiving Day whether it’s setting the table, making a decoration, creating the place cards, cooking taking the pictures, creating a slide show, or providing after dinner entertainment. Each year we add a new tradition and I am ever so grateful to now be the official Grandma in Charge!
Pictured on the left, our beloved “Mad Scientist”! Every Thanksgiving for not enough years, Cousin Richard’s job was to prepare the turkey. That poor turkey never had a chance!
The saga will continue. Watch for future posts.
